In Tamil Nadu state government Pongal bonus was declared for its employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners for the 2023-2024 financial year. For this scheme, our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has sanctioned ₹163.81 crore to this cause, to honor the hard-working tones of government staff during the festive season.
Bonus Details:
– Group C and D Employees and Teachers: Those fitting the criteria outlined above will be eligible for an extra, ‘bonus’ up to ₹3,000.
– Daily Wage Workers and Other Staff: The employees getting consolidated wages, special time scale pay or employees who have 240 days service in the 2023/24 financial year will be paid a special bonus of Rs 1000.
– Pensioners and Family Pensioners: A Pongal gift of ₹ 500 will be given to those of Group C and D pensioners, Family pensioners, former village administration officers , Village Assistants and Helpers.
This announcement follows the tradition of the government to give bonuses during the celebration of Pongal festival. In the previous year, employees were provided an ad-hoc bonus of 30 days’ amount not exceeding ₹ 3000/– wherein full-time and part-time employees were paid a special ad-hoc bonus of ₹ 1000/–.
Pongal, the major harvest celebration of Tamil Nadu, is celebrated with a lot of passion. The government’s generous move is expected to improve the Christmas mood of the agencies and reward the staff for working hard in the management of the state.
Civil servants and pensioners should seek their respective departments to ask for the detailed procedures through which they will be paid their Pongal bonus so that they receive the due amount of money.
