The Goa government has made an important announcement that people who want to get LPG Subsidy will now need to link their Aadhaar number. This new rule applies to those who are benefiting from the Chief Minister’s Financial Assistance for Refilling LPG Cylinders Scheme, which gives families ₹275 off the cost of three LPG cylinder refills every year.

Why is Aadhaar Important?

To make sure the subsidy goes to the right people, the government is now requiring all beneficiaries to show their Aadhaar number. If someone doesn’t have an Aadhaar card yet, they must apply for one at special centres before they can register for the scheme.

Alternative Documents for Those Without Aadhaar

If someone is still waiting for their Aadhaar, they can use other documents like a bank passbook, PAN card, passport, voter ID card, ration card, or other forms of identification to prove who they are. This helps make sure no one misses out on the benefits while they are waiting for their Aadhaar to be processed.

What If the Biometric Doesn’t Work?

Sometimes, it’s hard to verify a person’s identity through fingerprints, especially for older people or those with worn-out fingerprints. In such cases, there are other ways to prove who you are:

  • Face or Iris Scan: This is for people whose fingerprints don’t work well.
  • Aadhaar OTP: If the fingerprint doesn’t work, an OTP (One-Time Password) can be sent to your registered mobile number for verification.
  • Aadhaar Letter: If all else fails, you can use the physical Aadhaar letter with a QR code to verify your details.

What Does This Mean for You?

If you’re using the LPG subsidy in Goa, it’s important to link your Aadhaar to your LPG account. This will make sure you continue to get your subsidy smoothly without any delays. If you haven’t yet linked your Aadhaar or need help with the process, you can visit your local LPG distributor or an Aadhaar enrolment centre.

This move by the government aims to make the subsidy process more efficient and ensure that the right people get the help they need. It’s all about making sure that cooking is safer and more affordable for everyone!
