Patna, Bihar – January 6, 2025: The Bihar Public Service Commission commonly known as BPSC has recently come under a lot of criticism after complaints of Leakage of exam papers and wrong doings. He said that the recent agitation has witnessed a general strike where students and political leaders are calling for the nullification of the recent examination and probe into the alleged mal practices.
Prashant Kishor, who started the Jan Suraaj movement, became one of the leaders of the protest. On January 2, he began an endless fast in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan to show his sympathy to the suffering students. Kishor stressing on the problems of Establishing the truth and accountability in the BPSC and demanding the state government to look into the problems of the youth.
On January 6, Kishor lost his permit to conduct a hunger strike and was arrested by Patna Police on grounds of public security. He was laterproduced in court and bailed subject to a section 121 agreement that the gentleman will not engage in any protests again and on the provision that he deposits ₹ 25000/-bond. Kishor refused to accept these conditions and therefore was remanded to judicial custody.
The arrest of Kishor has aggravated the protests after his supporters and students fought police frustrating agencies. Protesters want Kishor freed and the cancellation of the allegedly manipulated BPSC tests. The tension continues to rise with local movements enforcing tougher security measures all over Patna in a bid to control such incidents.
As for the events that un fold in the country, the Bihar state government has made an announcement that a committee will be formed to probe the allegations concerning the BPSC examinations. Leadership has called on people to be patient with the government as any cases of corruption shall be dealt with accordingly to ensure that the states recruitment processes remain credible.
The BPSC, which is an organisation that is charged with the responsibility of providing candidates for various civil service posts in Bihar has not released any official word on the issue. The credibility of the commission is in serious danger, and people are demanding systemic changes more visibly.
