Pixel 4a users will receive an unusual software update from Google that will focus on improving the battery stability on the device. From 08/01/2025, devices will be able to get this update based on Android 13 on their own. Nevertheless, Expected to some units generally known as “Impacted Devices,” Google says that the update could potentially decrease battery time between charges as well as the charging speed.

To address potential inconveniences, Google is offering affected users three options:

– Free Battery Replacement: The mobile users who are qualified clients enjoy the battery replacement services from the device at no cost.

– Monetary Compensation: Min $50 (approximately ₹4,292).

– Credit Toward a New Pixel Device: A $100 (approximately ₹ 8,584) credit that can be redeemed only to buy a new Pixel phone from the Google store.

Users had been getting their device eligibility checked directly through the IMEI number on Google on its support website.

This situation is similar to Apple’s situation in the year 2017 when it decided to slow the performance of the older iPhone to prevent them from shutting down unexpectedly and helped it land in a lot of legal trouble as well. Google’s activity is more aggressive and includes direct contact and actually provides the affected user the compensation.

Pixel 4a owners are invited to visit the official Google support page for further information and to see whether they qualify.
